Getting Traffic to Your Website

Website traffic can be the hardest thing to come by when it comes to promoting your work at home business. When venturing into a home business using the internet one must be aware that in order to become successful there must be regular visitors to your website. Some may ask, with all the other websites out there, how in the world can I get people to my site?

The steps to making it happen are fairly easy but it may be difficult to get your site in front of all the others. An important factor you may want to concentrate on is optimizing your website for the search engines. This includes making sure the html code is neat and tidy and as close to error free as possible. If there are too many errors the search engines may not be able to read it properly, therefore the website may not get indexed or ranked highly.

Pick some keywords or phrases that are not highly competitive and use them in the keyword tag and scatter them throughout the site. By choosing less competitive keywords you have a greater chance of getting to page one of the search engines.

Use those same keywords or phrases in articles and the resource box of your articles. Submit your articles to the popular directories. It is advised to change up the article to have a few versions of it so you won’t get hit with the duplicate content penalty. If your articles are interesting and informative, people will want to know more about you and visit the site in your resource box.

How about all the buzz about social networking? Using these sites creates a link to your site plus get you socializing with other like minded people. Those people may be looking for new business ventures to add to the others they have going.

Videos are becoming more popular for promoting your business. Create a simple video about your business opportunity and submit it to directories like YouTube or Yahoo Video. There is video creating software out there that makes it very easy to create a great looking video.

Blogging is an excellent way to promote your business or products. Post an entry every day or even a few times a day. Just make sure you ping it using a pinging service such as PingGoat. This alerts the ping servers that there is new or updated information on a particular blog. If your blog is hosted on your website server, it is providing your website with fresh content, which the search engines love. If not, that’s ok too.

All of the above methods of getting traffic to your website are free. There are also several paid ways to get visitors to your website. Adwords, purchased leads, local newspaper classifieds, and ezine solo ads are just a few of the paid methods you can use to get visitors to your website.

Some methods may take longer to get your site noticed but they will also create back links to your site, which gets you higher ranking in the search engines. Getting higher quality back links also helps with this. This is great for the long term and getting a steady flow of visitors.
