There are many stories I could share with you regarding Gratitude but there is one that still to this day touches my heart. That is the story of Sonny Payne. He is not a captain of industry. Nor is he an entrepreneur. Sonny is panhandler who I have seen almost every day in the subways of NYC for years. He is the one who taught me an important lesson about gratitude that I will never forget.
What does this have to do with building your business? How does this relate to attracting success? The Law of Attraction works in this arena as well. Gratitude is an essential ingredient towards creating more success in your life and business. Remember, what you give your focus to is what will manifest. Read on.
A few years ago I happened upon Sonny Payne. Everything was as it always has been for years and years “ he had a great pitch and approached the cranky subway riders with humility and understanding If you dont have it, I understand because I dont have it either. As he passed through the cars on this day with hat in hand collecting spare change something welled up inside me. Sonny had always been my panhandler who I would always make sure I contributed to. But today was different.
I watched Sonny carefully. Always with the ever present smile on his face and his God Bless You to anyone who smiled at him or helped him out as the train chugged onward. Instead of going onto the next car Sonny rode all the way to my subway stop in Brooklyn and got off. This was highly unusual. My inner voice told me to make sure he was ok. Just that morning, I had made a solemn promise to always listen to that voice when I heard it. So there was no way out “ I HAD to take an action.
I ran down the platform to talk to Sonny who was going the opposite direction. When I called his name he turned and smiled at me as if hed known me all my life. I asked him if he had enough money to eat that night. He humbly said it would be ok, not to worry. But I knew that wasnt the truth. I handed him a bill from my purse and asked him again if that was enough. His eyes lit up as he told me that he would be staying at a church that night and that not only was it enough to eat “ it was enough for him to help someone else pay for their stay that night too. He proceeded to tell me how grateful he was to have helpful people in his life and how blessed he was.
I was absolutely stunned. This man seemingly had nothing. But Sonny didnt feel he didnt have anything. In his mind he was rich and grateful. To share and celebrate his success with someone else gave him so much joy. It was in that moment that I realized the following:
It is important to have gratitude for all thing even things that seem small and insignificant“ havent we all been told this?
Never forget to express gratitude. The Universe appreciates a grateful person & will return to you other grateful people in your life.
Help others and they in turn with help another fellow “ this is another variation of the law of attraction principle in motion.
Gratitude is a sign of humility, generosity and celebration. Share this type of celebration with others. In doing so, you impart to them the gift of example and inspiration
The Universe will send teachers in all forms until you get the message. Sonny was a significant teacher in my life.
Todays Challenge:
Be grateful for whatever small or large success you have had in this year.
Celebrate with others your good fortune in whatever way you feel is appropriate. But the most important thing is to ACKNOWLEDGE the success and to SHOW your gratitude.
