Once you have got the stuff into the house, teach your kids the importance of good hygiene and cleanliness. Leave it to your kids to have the required ingredients washed and ready. Having a cook book with picture illustrations will be advisable, and let your kids follow step by step and guide them only when it is necessary and if help is needed. It is important that you teach your kids first what they can do and cannot do in the kitchen. Take them around and explain the importance of keeping away from stoves, cookers and take precautions to move out very sharp objects, and appliances and tools that can harm them.
Have a separate set of kitchen utensils and tools for your kids, and let them take over the kitchen. Expect a mess, but it is all worth when you see the happiness on the little faces. At the end of the day teaching your child to clean up the mess is equally important.
Kids Cooking is enjoyable and rewarding. Let your kids do their own thing in the kitchen. Even if the dish is not turning out the way it should, do not try to correct them. It is important that at no time that you move out of the kitchen. Keep an eye on your kids at all times.
The Kids will no doubt look to you for your approval at the end of the day. When the dish is ready, give your kids encouragement and do not be lacking in praise. Take trouble to set the table well, and you can even get your kids to help you out to lay the table. Even if it has not turned out well enjoy the dish.
This may be something small in the minds of adults, but the little kids will feel that they have achieved a milestone with their little work. Kids cooking can also bring you and your little ones closer and it is a wonderful way to spend quality time with your kids.
