Add Characters To Your Posters

Here is a great tip for poster printing: create a character! Characters in posters add interest. They add value and recognition to your campaign.

Take the example of the poster of Uncle Sam with the words: "The Army wants YOU!' It shows the popular image of Uncle Sam with a stern look and pointing a finger. The image alone says a lot about what the poster wants to do. You have guessed that right. It is a recruitment poster for the US Army. The message and the character combined make a strong case. Now picture this campaign ad without the picture of Uncle Sam. Would you still get the same effect?

Characters, be it an actor playing a role or a cartoon character, adds a new dimension to any poster printing. They add depth, as in the case of the US Army ad campaign, or humor as in the Simpsons advertising Duff beer. Whatever the role is in the poster, these characters make any advertising campaign more appealing.

If you do not want to use actors, cartoon characters or famous personalities, you can try your hand in creating a brand character. If you do not get the picture, just look at Ronald McDonald and his friends and you will get the idea. Brand characters represent the characteristics or the personality of the brand. Brand characters help in brand recognition. They are particularly advantageous if you are engaged in a business involving kids.

Some of the world’s best advertising campaigns have been built on brand characters. These characters are so ubiquitous that consumers will never fail to associate them with your brand of service or product. More importantly, these brand characters do not get involved with fights or accidents that are potentially damaging to reputations. This is the risk you have to face when you get the services of famous personalities. Along with your star’s damaged reputation is your products damaged image. This is another good reason why brand characters are better than real life endorsers.

Like a good movie or book, any character, be it invented or not, should be interesting. This is the number one requirement. If you choose a character, choose someone or something that is interesting, different and unexpected. They should have strong personalities, witty and fun. The more colorful the personality, the better.

By engaging the services of these characters, your poster printing will grab attention. This strategy will make your poster stand out from the crowd. So what are you waiting for, add your character and print posters the same day.
